  8. INFORMATION:   Here is more information on the NetWare 386 v3.1 TRX-Net
  9.                driver with an 8 bit Arcnet card.  Here are some test

  35.                As you can see, under heavy load the 8 bit card was not
  36.                capable of handling the traffic.  This was also tested 
  37.                using the old (not supported) NetWare 386 v3.0 RX-Net 
  38.                driver and the results were similar.

  40.                We have had several customers using the 8 bit card and
  41.                having lots of problems.  When they use the 16 bit 
  42.                Arcnet card the problems disappear.  An important result 
  43.                is the server utilization of 35 percent compared to 9
  44.                percent.  The difference of 290 percent!!  Also, the NO
  45.                ECBs explain why customers are seeing problems.

  47. COMMENTS:      The 8 bit card is not capable of handling the heavier 
  48.                load.  The customers have an $8,000 operating system with
  49.                $10,000 in hardware for a high performance system.  Why 
  50.                use a cheap Arcnet card with such an incredible 
  51.                investment?  Use a 16 bit Arcnet board and the problems 
  52.                will disappear.

  54.                The current NetWare 386 v3.1 TRX-Net driver has problems
  55.                with 8 bit Arcnet cards under heavy loads.  The TRX-Net
  56.                driver seems to function fine with 16 bit cards.  For now
  57.                use the NetWare 386 v3.0 RX-Net driver.  The problem that
  58.                people are seeing with the TRX-Net driver is receive 
  59.                buffers maxing out.  The RX-Net driver you should use is 
  60.                the one on NetWire, not the original with NetWare 386 v3.0.
